Author/Writer Annsonita Robinson Hails Micro-Entrepreneurialism With New Book
Bootleg Slim: Honey of a Bus Trip
The summer of 2003 was a hot one in the Deep South . But, when a young Atlanta-based street vending entrepreneur known as “Bootleg Slim”, gets the opportunity to accompany a group of senior citizens on a gambling trip to Mississippi , the MARTA Five Points selling machine closes shop and boards an old, hot bus bound for the Redneck Riviera . His humorous foibles include teenage wanna-be gangsters, a band of mischievous senior ladies (the O.G.’s – old girls), and good-old boy hotel security. Oh, let’s not forget “Honey” – the prep school-bred daughter of one of the most respected civil rights families in the country.
Atlanta, Georgia – May 24, 2012 – Bootleg Slim: Honey of a Bus Trip is the first in a three book trilogy that focuses on the life of a young Atlanta-based urban entrepreneur. Book I serves as the initial financing source for Robinson’s newly implemented entrepreneurial training for women of color, Con*Sequence, set to begin training September 2012 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Annsonita Robinson isn’t a casual observer of the American business landscape. Observing the survivors of the Great Recession, Annsonita noted some distinct characteristics about micro-businesses and urban entrepreneurs, “Nothing was happenstance about how they survived. Just like any multi-national, these business owners planned and had a strategy when the economy was good. So, when 2008 came, they didn’t crash. They re-invented and kept it moving.”
Noting the potentially large impact the Bootleg Slim books and Con*Sequence training can have on urban communities, Annsonita has gained support from the different segments of the business community. While working on the audiobook with Annsonita, Tim Milton, CEO and President of PaRock Productions, said, “Not only is the book one of the funniest ones I’ve ever read, the idea that it’s a building block for urban entrepreneurial training was extremely appealing to our staff. Producer Rock Berry is working on a soundtrack for Book II.”
While laughing out loud at the foibles of our hero, you’ll gain a new respect for urban entrepreneurialism and the tenacity of the American small business owner.
